Why owning a Cat?
September 14, 2020For those who want to adopt and keep a cat at home, we will talk about the pros and cons of owning a cat at home.
House cat for those who are generally fed as pets , or cat for short if it does not need to be distinguished from other felines and small cats . People value the companionship of cats and their ability to hunt vermin house pests.
Cats are anatomically similar to other felines with their strong, flexible bodies, quick reflexes, sharp, retractable claws, and teeth adapted to kill small prey. Cats can hear sounds that are too weak or too high for human ears. They can see in near darkness. Like most mammals, cats have poorer color vision and a stronger sense of smell than humans.
Benefits of Owning a Cat
Having a cat at home can be a great choice. If you’re in charge, they can be great long-term friends. Here are some of the advantages of owning a cat. Here are pros part of Pros and Cons of Owning a Cat:
Pro 1. They require little maintenance
As long as you change the litter boxes regularly and provide them with enough food and water, your cat will be fine. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t spend quality time with your mumbling friend – you should! However, cats are independent animals and absolutely do not need constant supervision. You can even go for a weekend without hiring a pet sitter. Cats are good at cleaning and entertaining themselves.
Pro 2. Cats are lovely
Cats are very loving while in good mood. It has also been observed that stroking a cat has a calming effect and reduces stress. A purring cat curled up in your lap will make you feel good even if nothing else can.
Time spent with cats is never lost.

Pro 3. Cats are fun
It’s fun to watch your cat frolic and see some of the awkward positions they adopt when they are resting. They are also very funny animals. They will chase almost anything that moves. Give them some catnip for extra fun.
Pro 4. They destroy harmful rodents and insects
One of the most important reasons people domesticate cats is to help control populations of invasive rodents such as mice and other pests. Many domestic cats still hunt rodents, insects and other small animals, both indoors and outdoors.
Pro 5. Kittens are very cute
Kittens’ big eyes, soft furry bellies, and pleading meow will melt even the most cruel hearts. As they won’t stay as kittens forever, enjoy every minute while they are still puppies and very beautiful!
Pro 6. Cats do not require a lot of space
Many cats are happy to live in a (relatively) small house or apartment, as long as they have a source of warmth and a window where they can view the world. Most cats also enjoy exploring the outdoors. Many people who live in smaller homes let their cats out so they don’t get overwhelmed at home
Pro 7. You don’t have to take cats for a walk
Unlike dogs, you don’t need to take your cats for a walk for regular walks. Most cats exercise for fun, and those that are allowed to go outside tend to be quite active.
Disadvantages of Owning a Cat
Many cat owners are unaware that adding a cat to their family can have unexpected consequences. Here are some of the downsides of owning a cat for the list of “Pros and Cons of Owning a Cat”:
Con 1. Cats Shed A Lot
If you choose to bring a cat into your home, be prepared for its hair to be scattered everywhere, including but not limited to your furniture, carpet, clothes, tables and benches. Once you have a cat, you will need to tweak your cleaning schedule a bit.
Con 2. Trash Cans Smell and Need Cleaning
Cats’ urine and feces smell pretty bad, and you can’t flush their toilets as they are litter boxes. If you want a cat, be prepared to clean the litter box regularly. Depending on their habits, cats outside need less litter boxes.
Con 3. Cats Can Shred Your Furniture
Yes, you can get your cat a scratching post and try different things to deter you from scratching the things you care about. However, it will most likely still damage your furniture.
Con 4. May Prevent Some People From Visiting Your Home
A surprisingly large number of people have cat allergies, and some people even have cat phobia. This can affect your social or romantic life, especially if you like people coming to your home.
Con 5. Vet bills can be very expensive
If your cat gets sick or injured, you should take him to the vet and his regular check-ups are also a must. Veterinarian bills are known to cost some people a small fortune.
Con 6. They Are Born as Killers
If you let your cat out, they will cause the bird population in your neighborhood to decline. There is also a chance that your wild cat will bring dead mice and lizards into your home. Are you ready to accept these disgusting gifts?
Con 7. They Are Willing and Rarely Obey Commands
Have you ever heard the expression “like herding a cat? Unlike most easily trained dogs, cats often have their own will and tend not to take orders or listen to orders.
Con 8. They will vomit occasionally
Cats sometimes get sick and vomit, and you are the one who has to clean it up. Cats vomit for a number of reasons. Most often it concerns hairballs. Sometimes it’s because they eat something that is non-toxic or your kitten runs around too much after bleeding. In any case, the cleaning task will be yours.
NOTE: Most of the time, vomiting is not a problem in cats. However, if you often see piles of foamy vomit or vomit or undigested food, you may need to see a vet.
Con 9. They scratch or bite people
In addition to scratching furniture, cats often scratch and bite humans. They may do this on purpose when you accidentally go in and out of your lap or do something they don’t like (for example, if you pat their belly when they’re not in the mood). If you adopt a cat, be prepared for occasional bites or scratch marks.
Con 10. They can wake you up while you sleep
Cats’ sleep schedules are unusual – they can wake you up late at night or early in the morning. Cats don’t seem to care about people sleeping when they’re not sleeping. If you bring a cat into your home, be prepared for some rough awakenings.
Con 11. They are very loud when they want to enter or exit
With your cat inside, he will meow until you take him out. When he’s outside, he’ll be allowed in. If you don’t have a cat door, be prepared to be on a concierge duty several times a day. In some cases, you can stand there for years while waiting for the cat to decide where it wants to be. This is less of an issue for those who have cats that only live indoors.
Con 12. They often get fleas
When it comes to cats, fleas are relatively easy to catch, but getting rid of them is often difficult and expensive. Be prepared to fight fleas many times in your cat’s life.
